APC Rally: Remi Tinubu Announces ₦200,000 Support for 250 Beneficiaries in Each South-East Senatorial District

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced plans to provide ₦200,000 financial support to 250 beneficiaries in each senatorial district as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative's empowerment programmes.

She made the announcement during the South-East Women Mega Empowerment Rally organised in Enugu, where she spoke about her visits to the region and the contributions of women to economic development.

According to the First Lady, the financial support will be disbursed on December 3, 2026, with another round of assistance scheduled for December 17 to support elderly citizens.

“I have visited Igboland several times since my husband became President, and I have seen the work being done by women in the South-East. On December 3, we will provide ₦200,000 for the senatorial districts, to be disbursed to 250 people. On December 17, support will also be given to the elderly, with a total of 750 beneficiaries. We have been working for four years, and we will continue,” she said.

The December 3 programme is scheduled to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, while the December 17 intervention is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative's Elderly Support Scheme.

The announcement came during an APC rally attended by political leaders, governors, party stakeholders and thousands of women from the five South-East states.

The event also featured the distribution of empowerment equipment, including sewing machines, food processors, generators and popcorn machines to women to support their businesses and economic activities.

The First Lady urged women in the region to remain engaged in the government's empowerment programmes and encouraged them to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She maintained that her initiative would continue to support vulnerable Nigerians through financial assistance and economic empowerment.

Beyond the South-East programme, the Renewed Hope Initiative has also announced plans to extend the ₦200,000 financial support to persons with disabilities and elderly citizens across all 109 senatorial districts nationwide.

Under the nationwide arrangement, 250 persons with disabilities will receive ₦200,000 each on December 3, while another 250 elderly citizens aged 65 and above will receive the same amount on December 17.

The nationwide programmes are expected to reach 27,250 beneficiaries in each category, with a combined financial commitment of approximately ₦10.9 billion, excluding additional support for veterans.

The First Lady has also urged APC senatorial candidates overseeing the distribution to ensure that deserving beneficiaries are not excluded on the basis of political affiliation, ethnicity or religion.
