Abdulbasit Solihu Olatunji, coordinator of YoFiN, has announced bold plans to empower young Nigerians and transform the agricultural sector into a hub for innovation, resilience, and economic growth.
This was disclosed during a chat with NaijaTalkTalk. Speaking on the organization’s vision, Olatunji stated that the nation should expect a new generation of empowered young farmers who will drive food security and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economy.
“When we say youths are the leaders of tomorrow, YoFiN is taking practical steps to make that a reality by equipping young people with skills, opportunities, and support systems that allow them to lead today,” he said.
Olatunji pointed that YoFiN is establishing a platform that encourages youth participation in modern agriculture, introducing technology-driven farming, mentorship programs, access to finance, and market opportunities. The initiative also aims to form a strong national network of young agripreneurs.
“Our goal is to raise youths who are not just job seekers, but job creators, contributing actively to the agricultural transformation of Nigeria. We want Nigerian youths to take their rightful place at the center of the nation’s food system,” Olatunji added.
The program seeks to rebrand agriculture as a viable, attractive, and profitable career path, inspiring young Nigerians to embrace farming and agribusiness as a platform for personal and national growth.
Stakeholders have welcomed YoFiN’s approach, noting that initiatives like this could significantly enhance youth empowerment, drive economic diversification, and strengthen food security in Nigeria.
