‘Why Dem Dey Give This Carter Efe Dude Comedy People to Fight?’ — BlackFada

RibsNPacks Republic boss BlackFada has questioned the decision to repeatedly match comedian and content creator Carter Efe against entertainers in celebrity boxing bouts.

Reacting to the growing trend of Carter Efe moving from comedy and online entertainment into the boxing ring, BlackFada asked why the comedian was being given other comedy personalities and entertainers to fight.

“Why dem dey give this Carter Efe dude comedy people to fight?” BlackFada said in a social media reaction.

The comment comes as Carter Efe prepares for another celebrity boxing showdown, this time against singer Speed Darlington in Lagos.

Carter Efe has increasingly become a major figure in Nigeria’s influencer and celebrity boxing scene.

In May 2026, the comedian defeated street-pop singer Portable by unanimous decision at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event in Lagos. The three-round contest ended with all three judges scoring the fight 30–27 in Carter Efe’s favour.

The bout followed weeks of public exchanges between the two entertainers and became one of the major entertainment stories surrounding Nigeria’s emerging celebrity boxing scene.

Carter Efe’s victory over Portable also attracted widespread reactions online, with entertainers and social media users debating whether celebrity boxing was becoming a new form of entertainment for Nigerian influencers.

Carter Efe is now set for another celebrity boxing contest against Speed Darlington.

The buildup has already generated drama. Recent reports from the pre-fight press conference in Lagos described a heated confrontation involving the two entertainers, with the event reportedly descending into shouting and physical chaos.

The upcoming contest has therefore renewed discussion about the growing crossover between Nigeria’s comedy, music, streaming and boxing scenes.

For BlackFada, however, the repeated pairing of Carter Efe with entertainers rather than conventional boxers raises questions about the direction of the celebrity boxing trend.

Celebrity boxing has increasingly been used as an entertainment format in Nigeria, with social-media rivalries and public disagreements sometimes becoming the storyline leading into fights.

Carter Efe’s earlier contest with Portable followed that pattern, with their public exchanges eventually culminating in a boxing match watched by audiences online and at the venue.

BlackFada’s latest reaction reflects the wider debate over whether such contests should be viewed primarily as sporting events, entertainment spectacles or extensions of social-media rivalries.

His question about why Carter Efe keeps being matched with entertainers is his personal commentary on the celebrity boxing trend.
