United States Representative Marlin Stutzman has praised former Anambra State governor and 2027 presidential candidate Peter Obi following a meeting between the two politicians.
Stutzman, who represents Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District in the US House of Representatives, described his meeting with Obi as an honour and said the Nigerian politician’s vision for the country was inspiring.
“It was an honor to meet with Nigerian presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi this week. His vision for a better Nigeria was truly inspiring,” Stutzman said.
The comment was shared alongside an image showing Stutzman and Obi together. The image was published on September 20, 2026.
Meeting comes amid 2027 political activities
The meeting comes as Obi continues his engagements and consultations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Obi recently held a town-hall meeting in Kaduna with his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, where they discussed issues including insecurity, poverty, education, healthcare, fuel costs, corruption and economic development.
Stutzman’s remarks focused on Obi’s stated vision for Nigeria rather than endorsing any specific electoral outcome.
The US congressman has previously spoken publicly about Nigeria and Nigerian affairs. Recent records show Stutzman, a Republican member of the US House, has discussed issues involving Nigeria during congressional and public engagements.
Obi has continued to frame his political platform around improving human capital development, strengthening security, reducing poverty and building an economy capable of creating opportunities for Nigerians.
His supporters have described such engagements as part of efforts to build international awareness around his political agenda, while his opponents continue to contest the merits of his proposals and political record.
Stutzman’s latest comment has nevertheless attracted attention among Obi’s supporters, particularly because it came from a sitting member of the United States House of Representatives following a direct meeting with the Nigerian politician.
