A video featuring an unidentified elder statesman making strong allegations against Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has sparked reactions online, amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 general election.
The video was shared on X by a user identified as @ScholesNPUtd on September 23, alongside the caption, “Obi/Kwankwaso 2027,” with the user asking followers to identify the elder statesman.
In the video, the speaker accused Soludo of committing what he described as an “abomination” and alleged that the controversy surrounding the alleged act was responsible for some of the governor’s political difficulties.
“I'm telling you that Soludo committed an abomination, and it is that abomination that is following him around,” the speaker said.
He also made an allegation involving Victor Oye, a former national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), referring to him by the nickname “Dankwa.”
The speaker further used an offensive phrase against Soludo during the video.
The identity of the man making the remarks could not be independently established from the social media post reviewed, and the allegations made against Soludo could not be independently verified.
The video emerged as supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso continue to organise around their political alliance ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement recently unveiled a 59-member presidential campaign council, with representatives across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory. The structure includes directors for mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs and other areas.
The movement has also insisted that it will maintain its independent structures rather than surrendering them to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), despite the two politicians operating under the party's platform.
Obi is the NDC's presidential candidate, while Kwankwaso is his running mate for the 2027 election. The pair's political arrangement has included an agreement concerning a proposed four-year administration, according to Kwankwaso.
The latest video therefore comes against the backdrop of increasing political mobilisation around the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket and continuing disagreements involving political actors in Anambra.
However, the claims contained in the viral video remain the views and allegations of the unidentified speaker and should not be treated as established facts without supporting evidence.
As political activities intensify ahead of 2027, statements by supporters and opponents of the various political camps are expected to generate further debate over the records, policies and conduct of public officials.
