The Revenue House was commissioned on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, as part of activities surrounding the turbaning of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin.
Shettima commended the state government for the project, with the Kwara Internal Revenue Service describing the facility as a major investment in modernising revenue administration in the state.
The new Revenue House, located along Ahmadu Bello Way in the GRA area of Ilorin, is designed to consolidate various departments of the Kwara Internal Revenue Service under one roof.
According to KWIRS, the facility is intended to improve staff productivity, strengthen operational capacity and make taxpayer services more efficient.
The building incorporates facilities including an e-centre, banking hall, vehicle and driver's licence services and other taxpayer-related services, providing a central point for accessing revenue and related government services.
The facility is expected to accommodate about 500 staff members and support greater coordination among different departments of the revenue service.
The Vice President also praised Governor AbdulRazaq's administration for investing in infrastructure and institutional development.
The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation reported that Shettima described the Revenue House as a major edifice and commended the governor's governance record, including investments in education, healthcare and road infrastructure.
KWIRS Executive Chairman Shade Omoniyi said the project represented more than a physical structure, describing it as a step towards transforming revenue administration and improving taxpayer-focused service delivery.
The Kwara State Government has presented the Revenue House as part of its efforts to strengthen institutions and improve internally generated revenue.
The administration has said the project reflects its approach to infrastructure development and prudent management of public resources.
The commissioning comes alongside the opening of other projects by the AbdulRazaq administration, including the Kwara Garment Factory, which the Federal Ministry of Information said is designed to create up to 4,000 jobs when operating at full capacity.
Other projects cited by the state government as part of its development programme include ongoing healthcare and infrastructure investments.
The Revenue House is expected to serve as the operational headquarters of the state's revenue administration while supporting digitalisation, improved tax collection and more accessible services for taxpayers.
