Nigerian music and entertainment outfit RibsNPacks Republic is set to deepen its involvement in the digital economy with plans to launch its own cryptocurrency and music application, according to the label’s boss, BlackFada.
BlackFada disclosed that the label intends to explore the use of cryptocurrency as part of its broader digital strategy, while developing a dedicated music app for its artists, listeners and wider community.
According to him, the planned coin and music platform are expected to create new digital opportunities around music distribution, fan engagement and the label’s entertainment ecosystem.
The proposed move would position RibsNPacks Republic at the intersection of music, technology and digital assets, as the entertainment industry continues to explore new ways of connecting artists with audiences.
The label's planned music app is expected to provide a dedicated platform for accessing music and other content associated with RibsNPacks Republic, while the proposed coin could be incorporated into aspects of the ecosystem.
BlackFada said the initiative forms part of the label's long-term vision of building a broader digital culture network rather than operating solely as a traditional record label.
While BlackFada has announced plans for the coin and music app, details such as the coin's name, blockchain network, launch date, tokenomics, regulatory structure and specific uses within the music platform have yet to be fully disclosed.
The proposed initiative comes as blockchain technology and digital assets continue to attract interest across the global music industry, particularly in areas such as digital ownership, fan communities, payments and artist monetisation.
RibsNPacks Republic is expected to provide more details as development of the proposed cryptocurrency and music application progresses.
