Reports has it that the Presidency spent more than ₦37.6 billion on domestic and international travel-related expenses between June 2023 and April 2026.
According to the expenditure analysis cited during the discussion, the spending covered presidential travel, foreign-exchange transactions, logistics, aircraft-related requirements and other travel activities.
The reported expenditure included ₦25.27 billion in 2024 and approximately ₦9.19 billion during the second half of 2023.
The figures have prompted renewed debate about government spending, particularly amid public concerns over the cost of living and the scale of presidential international travel.
The Presidency has previously defended official trips by emphasising their diplomatic, economic and governmental purposes, while describing the latest European trip as a working vacation.
The controversy has nevertheless renewed calls for greater transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
