Oseni Rufai Urges Yayi to Convert Campaign Vehicles Into Post-Election Ambulance Service

Media personality Oseni Rufai has urged Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, to consider converting the vehicles donated to his 2027 governorship campaign into an ambulance service that Ogun State residents could access after the election.

Rufai made the proposal in a post on X while responding to a statement by MonITNG concerning the large number of vehicles donated to support Adeola’s campaign.

“Dear Sir, can we convert all these vehicles into an ambulance service that people can book after elections. I can supply the administrative technology to partner with you on this project,” Rufai wrote.

The proposal followed reports that Adeola had received more than 100 buses and other vehicles from supporters and associates for campaign activities and grassroots mobilisation across Ogun State.

Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2027 Ogun election, recently published a list acknowledging individuals, groups and businesses that donated vehicles to his campaign.

According to the list, the donations included buses, pickup vehicles and an ambulance. One of the donors, Alhaji IBD Dende, was reported to have contributed seven buses and an ambulance, while other supporters donated multiple buses.

Earlier in May, the Yayi Progressives Movement had also announced a ₦1 billion donation and unveiled 27 branded buses to support Adeola’s governorship campaign and grassroots mobilisation.

The scale of the vehicle donations has generated discussion on social media, with some Nigerians questioning how the vehicles could be used to provide longer-term benefits to residents beyond the campaign period.

MonITNG, in the post quoted by Rufai, thanked individuals who donated buses and vehicles but argued that the development should also prompt Ogun residents to ask questions about the purpose and eventual use of the assets.

Rufai's proposal would effectively turn the campaign fleet into a post-election public-service asset, potentially providing residents with access to emergency transportation.

His offer to provide the “administrative technology” suggests a system through which residents could book or request an ambulance when needed.

The proposal also comes shortly after the Federal Government announced the deployment of 13 ambulances to Ogun State under the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS).

The Federal Ministry of Health said the deployment included three Advanced Trauma Life Support ambulances, one Basic Life Support ambulance and nine tricycle ambulances for selected healthcare facilities across the state.

The ministry said the broader programme was designed to connect emergency dispatch, communication, trained personnel, pre-hospital care, transportation and hospitals.

Rufai has not announced a formal agreement with Adeola or explained the technical details of the proposed ambulance-booking system beyond offering to provide the administrative technology.

The proposal therefore remains an offer at this stage, while the wider debate over the use of campaign vehicles has continued on social media.
