One Dead, Three Rescued as Four-Storey Building Collapses in Enugu


One person has reportedly died while three others have been rescued after a four-storey building under construction collapsed in Independence Layout, Enugu State, on Sunday.

The incident reportedly occurred at No. 1 Ogbaguru Street, off the Ogbaru/Alvan Ikokwu Street axis of Independence Layout, opposite Niger Foundation Hospital.


According to reports from the scene, several people were trapped beneath the rubble following the collapse, triggering an emergency rescue operation.

Three people have so far reportedly been pulled from the debris, while rescuers continue searching the collapsed structure for others who may still be trapped.

One fatality has also been reported, although the identity of the deceased had not been established at the time of filing this report.

The collapse involved a four-storey structure that was still under construction. The circumstances surrounding the collapse, including the possible cause and whether the building had the required approvals, remain unclear.

Emergency responders and other persons at the scene are reportedly continuing efforts to locate and rescue anyone still trapped beneath the rubble.
