Obj made the remark while reacting to a Channels Television report on the arrest of a suspect by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) over an alleged false report targeting a fintech company.
In a post on X, Obj said he was pleased that people were “standing for the truth” in the latest case, arguing that similar support was not extended to the police during the controversy involving social-media personality VeryDarkMan and businessman BLord.
“I love the fact that everybody is standing for the truth and nobody is calling this one bullying,” Obj wrote.
He added: “During VDM vs BLord own, nothing we didn’t hear ‘He’s using the police to harass and bully BLord.’”
Obj further argued that VeryDarkMan often becomes “the common enemy” whenever controversies involving him and other individuals arise.
His comments followed a Channels Television report that the NPF-NCCC had announced the arrest of Hafsat Abubakar over an alleged false report targeting a fintech company. According to the report, Abubakar was arrested on September 4, 2026.
The development has renewed discussions online about the role of the police in handling complaints involving social-media personalities, businesses and individuals, as well as accusations of harassment or abuse of police powers.
Obj's post, however, represents his personal interpretation of the different controversies and does not by itself establish that the circumstances of the VDM-BLord matter and the latest cybercrime case were identical.
The debate also highlights the growing intersection between social-media disputes, law-enforcement investigations and public opinion in Nigeria, where allegations can quickly attract widespread reactions before the full circumstances of a case are established.
