Nigerian disc jockey DJ SpoiltKid has called on people from Nsukka to pray for politician and Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo amid the ongoing controversy surrounding his recent political statements and criticism of his former political ally, Peter Obi.
DJ SpoiltKid made the comment in a post on X on September 26, where he appealed to what he described as “Ndi Nsukka Asadu” to join hands in prayer for Okonkwo.
“Ndi Nsukka Asadu, join hands and pray for Kenneth Okonkwo to stop disgracing us,” he wrote.
The comment comes amid heightened public discussion over Okonkwo’s changing political alignment and his recent criticism of Obi, whom he prominently supported during the 2023 presidential election.
Okonkwo, who previously served as one of Obi’s campaign spokespersons, later left the Labour Party and moved into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) political camp. In 2026, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar appointed him spokesperson for his 2027 presidential campaign.
His political break with Obi has subsequently generated public reactions, particularly in Nsukka and among supporters who previously associated the two politicians.
The disagreement has also taken a legal dimension. Obi filed a defamation suit against Okonkwo, with court documents reportedly seeking, among other reliefs, a retraction and removal of disputed publications and an injunction against repeating certain allegations.
The dispute has attracted calls for restraint from traditional leaders in Nsukka. In June, the Enugu North Traditional Rulers Council for Peace, Justice and Social Harmony urged Obi and Okonkwo to embrace reconciliation and cautioned against rhetoric that could deepen divisions.
DJ SpoiltKid’s latest comment therefore adds another public reaction to the increasingly contentious exchanges surrounding Okonkwo and his former political associates.
His description of Okonkwo as “disgracing us” is a personal opinion expressed on social media and does not establish any wrongdoing by the politician.
