Fast-rising singer Khaid has shared a revealing story about how his early music connections and unexpected industry support shaped his career, including encounters with skit maker and content creator Carter Efe and veteran rapper Olamide.
Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Khaid recounted how Carter Efe first reached out to him for a potential music collaboration. According to him, he initially had no intention of working together and even considered a different motive before eventually changing his mind.
“I wanted to scam Carter Efe when he reached out to me requesting for us to work on a song. I never wanted to work with him at first. I told him to send me transport fee and he sent,” he said.
He explained that after receiving the transport fee, he later decided to meet up with Carter Efe, expecting a different outcome, but instead ended up engaging in a serious studio discussion that led to a musical collaboration.
Khaid added that during the same period, veteran rapper Olamide played a significant role in his personal and professional growth, describing him as a father figure in the industry.
He revealed that Olamide unexpectedly supported him financially by paying two years of his apartment rent, despite no formal request for assistance.
“During the time I collaborated with Carter, Olamide reached out and paid two years of my apartment rent,” he said.
The singer also noted that Olamide contributed creatively by offering a free verse on a track connected to his collaboration with Carter Efe, further boosting his exposure in the industry.
The revelations have sparked reactions online, with fans praising Olamide’s reputation for supporting young talents and mentoring upcoming artists, while others reacted to Khaid’s candid admission about his initial intentions regarding Carter Efe.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Carter Efe nor Olamide has publicly responded to the comments.
