Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi produced an impressive creative display for Fulham against Manchester United, with statistics showing his influence in the opening half of their Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.
Iwobi created five total chances and two big chances in the first half, more than any other player on the pitch during the opening 45 minutes.
The Nigerian midfielder was at the centre of Fulham’s attacking play as both sides produced an action-packed first half, despite going into the break without a goal.
According to match statistics, the first half saw the two teams combine for 26 shots — a record for a goalless Premier League first half since Opta’s shot data began in 2003-04.
Iwobi also came close to scoring when Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens rushed out to stop his attempted lob during Fulham’s strong spell in the first half.
The Nigerian was eventually substituted in the 70th minute, having registered a shot on target during the match.
Fulham eventually took the lead in the 63rd minute through a Lisandro MartÃnez own goal, after Calvin Bassey’s effort was saved by Lammens.
Manchester United rescued a point late in the match when Matheus Cunha’s effort in the 89th minute took a deflection before beating Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
The match ended 1-1, leaving both sides sharing the points.
Iwobi’s creative statistics nevertheless stood out, with match data recording him as Fulham’s leading chance creator with five chances created across the game.
