Media personality Isaac Fayose has launched a scathing attack on former Labour Party presidential running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed, describing him as a “failure” and accusing him of being jealous of his former running mate, Peter Obi.
Fayose made the remarks while commenting on the growing political disagreements surrounding the 2027 presidential race and the relationship between Obi and Datti.
According to Fayose, Datti was relatively unknown nationally before Obi selected him as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
“Ahmed Datti is a failure and a jealous man. Nobody knew him before Obi picked him in 2022 as his vice. He didn’t even win in his own state during the election.”
The comments have added another layer to the increasingly heated debate surrounding the political future of the Labour Party's 2023 presidential ticket.
Obi selected Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate ahead of the 2023 presidential election after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The pair campaigned under the Labour Party on a platform that attracted significant support, particularly among young Nigerians and voters seeking an alternative to the two dominant political parties.
Their ticket finished third in the 2023 presidential election, behind Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.
Obi and Datti subsequently challenged the election result in court but ultimately failed to overturn the outcome.
