Gunmen Reportedly Storm NDC Meeting in Enugu, Shoot One Person

Tension reportedly gripped parts of Enugu State after gunmen allegedly stormed a meeting of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and opened fire, leaving at least one person injured.

According to reports circulating online, the armed men reportedly invaded the meeting venue while members were gathered and fired shots, causing panic among those present.

One person was reportedly shot during the attack, although the victim’s identity and current condition could not immediately be independently established.

The circumstances surrounding the reported attack, including the identity and motive of the gunmen, remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.

The incident comes amid growing political tension and security concerns surrounding political activities in parts of the South-East ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, a separate controversy involving an alleged shooting linked to an NDC chieftain in Enugu prompted calls for the Enugu State Police Command to investigate a viral video. A group identified as Enugu Youths for Change had urged authorities to establish the facts surrounding the video and determine whether any crime was committed.

The group stressed that allegations involving politically connected individuals should not be ignored and called for a transparent investigation, regardless of the political status of anyone involved.

As of publication, there was no official statement from the Enugu State Police Command confirming the reported attack on the NDC meeting or providing details of the alleged shooting.

Further details are expected as security agencies investigate the incident and establish what happened.
