Customers Raise Fresh Complaints Over Delayed Transfers, Access Bank Responds

Several Access Bank customers have taken to social media to complain about delayed or missing funds, with some users alleging that successful transfers into their accounts were yet to reflect on their balances.

One of the complaints involved an alleged ₦3 million withdrawal from a SportyBet account. A customer identified as CJTV&CJSHED9090 said they were dealing with an issue concerning the withdrawal, although the post did not provide full details of the transaction.

In another complaint, an X user identified as Lumber Jack said a withdrawal from SportyBet had been confirmed as successfully paid into his Access Bank account, but the money had not appeared in his account or generated an alert.

“Since I made withdrawal from SportyBet to my Access Bank account I haven't received alert or even seen it on my app,” the customer wrote.

According to the customer, SportyBet had confirmed that the payment was successful, prompting him to contact both SportyBet and Access Bank while waiting for the matter to be resolved.

Other Access Bank customers also reported difficulties with transactions and account credits.

One user, smart002, urged the bank to resolve what they described as a network problem and credit their account, while another customer, Jaytin, said a withdrawal that was successful on the sending platform had failed to reflect in their Access Bank account.

The complaints also extended to the bank's mobile application, with another customer criticising the app over what they described as difficulties experienced during emergencies.

Access Bank's customer support account responded to at least some of the complaints, asking affected customers to provide transaction details so the bank could investigate.

In response to Jaytin's complaint, Access Bank Help apologised for the inconvenience and requested the customer's account number, transaction amount, transaction date and transaction session ID through direct message.

“Kindly engage with us via DM with your account number, transaction amount, transaction date and session id of the transaction for further assistance,” the bank's support account stated.

In another response to a customer, Access Bank said the individual had been engaged through direct message and asked them to check their messages.

The responses indicate that the bank is engaging with some of the affected customers privately, although the specific causes of the reported delays and whether the individual transactions have now been resolved were not disclosed publicly.

The complaints come at a time when Nigerians increasingly rely on instant bank transfers and digital platforms for payments, withdrawals and everyday financial transactions. Delays in reflecting successful transfers can therefore cause significant concern, particularly when large amounts are involved.

However, the social-media complaints provided do not, on their own, establish that the reported incidents are connected or that Access Bank experienced a nationwide system failure.

The ₦3 million transaction allegation and the other complaints remain individual customer claims pending verification and further statements from the bank and the relevant payment platforms.
