An Asake-linked song described online as an AI-generated track is gaining significant traction on TikTok, with more than 30,000 user-generated videos created around the sound.
Music analytics platform Chartex currently records 30,672 TikTok creations for the track “Great Guy,” credited to Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake. The sound has also accumulated more than 42.5 million TikTok video views, according to the platform's latest figures.
The development has sparked fresh conversations about the growing influence of artificial intelligence on music creation and how quickly AI-assisted or AI-generated sounds can spread through short-form video platforms.
On TikTok, the song has been used by thousands of creators for different forms of user-generated content, helping push the sound beyond its original audience.
The analytics show that Nigeria accounts for the largest share of the track's reported TikTok activity, with the country responsible for about 78.8 per cent of the recorded video views. The United States, United Kingdom and Ghana also feature among the leading markets.
The development comes at a time when AI-generated music is increasingly finding an audience on streaming and social-media platforms.
In January 2026, TurnTable Charts reported that an AI-generated song titled “Papaoutai (Afro Soul)” entered Nigeria's Official Top 100 at number seven, highlighting the growing ability of AI-assisted music to compete for attention alongside traditionally recorded releases.
Asake himself has previously enjoyed major success on TikTok. His 2023 hit “Lonely At The Top” became TikTok's number-one Song of the Summer in Nigeria that year, recording more than 1.6 million creations on the platform, according to TikTok.
The latest surge therefore adds another chapter to Asake's strong relationship with the platform, although the reported status of “Great Guy” as an AI-generated song and the extent of Asake's involvement in its creation would require confirmation from the artist, label or distributor.
For now, the numbers underline the extraordinary speed at which a sound can move from an online release into thousands of pieces of user-generated content — with TikTok once again serving as a major launchpad for music discovery.
