Anambra Police Arrest Woman Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Daughter, Rescue Four Children

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, identified by police as Anulika Onyeanusia, in connection with an alleged case of child sexual abuse and child pornography in Onitsha.

The arrest followed the circulation of a disturbing video online which allegedly showed the woman sexually abusing a minor believed to be her daughter. Police said operatives acted on open-source intelligence concerning the material and arrested the suspect on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

The suspect is also reportedly known online as “Freaky Goddess.” Reports circulating on social media have alleged that the child was exploited in sexually explicit online content. However, authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the material and have not publicly established all the allegations being circulated online.

During the operation, police rescued four children, aged two, three, six and nine, and recovered sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation.

The woman's husband is also being interrogated by investigators to determine whether he had any connection with the alleged offence. Police said the investigation would also establish whether other people were involved.

Reports have claimed that the suspect and her husband told investigators that the videos circulating online were generated using artificial intelligence. However, the AI claim has not been independently established, and police have not confirmed that the material was AI-generated. It remains part of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, described the alleged exploitation of children as unacceptable and directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated while ensuring that the rescued children receive appropriate care and protection.

Police have also urged members of the public not to share or circulate alleged sexual-abuse material involving minors, as doing so can further harm victims and potentially interfere with investigations.

The arrest has triggered widespread outrage online, but authorities are yet to establish through the ongoing investigation whether the circulating videos are authentic, digitally manipulated or generated using AI, and whether any additional victims or suspects are involved.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of law.
