Abia Platform Declares Support for Peter Obi, Credits Him and Otti for State’s Transformation

An Abia-based social media platform, Abia Daily, has declared its support for former Anambra State governor and NDC Presidential Peter Obi, while praising Abia State Governor Alex Otti for what it described as a transformation of the state.

In a post published on September 19, the platform said Obi played a significant role in creating the political environment that eventually produced Otti as governor of Abia State.

According to the platform, some Abia residents had followed Obi’s administration in Anambra and wanted to see similar changes replicated in their own state.

“Some of us saw first hand the changes he brought to Anambra State, we envied it, we wanted it for Abia,” the platform stated.

Abia Daily recalled the 2022 governorship campaign, saying Obi campaigned alongside Otti and promised that Abia would experience a turnaround if Otti emerged governor.

The platform said it subsequently supported the political effort that led to Otti’s election, describing the development as the restoration of the state’s “pride and dignity.”

It credited the current administration with changes it said had improved the outlook of Abia after what it described as years of stagnation, conflict and hardship.

The post did not provide specific data or independent evidence to substantiate all of its claims about the state’s transformation.

Abia Daily also announced a change in its editorial focus, declaring that the platform would henceforth be dedicated to Peter Obi and Abia State.

“Therefore, henceforth, this page/platform is now dedicated to Mr Peter Obi, and Abia State,” it said.

The declaration comes as political activities intensify ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with Obi remaining a prominent political figure and Otti’s administration facing continued public scrutiny over its record in Abia.
