An X user identified as Princewill has urged governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider realigning with the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections, alleging that President Bola Tinubu favours FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as a political ally.
In a post shared on X, Princewill appealed to APC governors to consider supporting the New Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The post also referenced a recent claim by businessman and political commentator Isaac Fayose that five serving APC governors were secretly supporting the NDC ahead of the 2027 election.
Fayose alleged in a video shared on social media that five unnamed APC governors had agreed to secretly provide financial support for the NDC's electoral activities in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to Fayose, the alleged governors did not want their identities disclosed because they remained members of the APC.
He claimed that their major condition was that Wike should not be allowed to deliver Rivers State and the FCT to the APC during the 2027 presidential election.
Fayose further alleged that the governors had offered ₦200,000 per polling unit for NDC polling agents in the two areas, purportedly to help them resist attempts at electoral manipulation.
However, Fayose did not identify the five governors or provide publicly verifiable evidence of the alleged meeting or financial arrangement. The claims have not been independently confirmed.
Reacting to Fayose's claim, Princewill wrote:
“Dear APC Governors, this is to remind you that President Tinubu prefers Wike as a political ally over you. It's the time for you to realign with the NDC and Peter Obi so that you won't be left in the cold.”
He also urged the governors to go beyond the alleged behind-the-scenes support attributed to them by Fayose and openly consider their political options ahead of 2027.
Princewill's post did not identify any APC governor as being part of the alleged group.
The identities of the five governors remain unknown. Fayose's account is currently the basis for the claim that the governors are secretly supporting the NDC, while no confirmation from the alleged governors has been publicly cited.
The allegation comes amid increasing political activity and realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, with politicians and political groups positioning themselves for the presidential and other elections.
The claims involving the unnamed governors, the alleged ₦200,000 payments and any purported plan to influence electoral outcomes remain allegations and should not be treated as established facts without independent evidence or confirmation from the individuals involved.
