Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has promised to fundamentally change the way Nigeria is governed if elected president in 2027, saying his administration would prioritise ordinary Nigerians over the political elite.
Sowore made the declaration in a post on X on Wednesday, outlining what he described as the difference between his proposed presidency and previous administrations.
The activist and politician said the 2027 election should not simply be about replacing one occupant of Aso Rock with another, but about changing the structure and purpose of government.
“We will not merely change who occupies Aso Rock. We will change the way Nigeria is governed and whom government exists to serve,” Sowore stated.
He said his proposed administration would be designed around the interests of ordinary Nigerians rather than what he described as a “tiny political elite.”
According to him, his government would seek to replace waste, corruption and political privilege with greater public investment, accountability and what he termed “revolutionary justice.”
Sowore's latest statement forms part of his broader 2027 campaign message, which presents his presidential bid as a push for fundamental political and economic change rather than a conventional transfer of power.
His official campaign platform says the movement is built around accountable government, improved dignity for Nigerians and greater participation by citizens in decisions affecting their communities.
The AAC candidate has also recently placed education at the centre of his campaign, promoting what he calls an “Education Revolution” focused on free and accessible quality education and a system in which, according to his campaign, no Nigerian child would be left behind.
Sowore has simultaneously continued to criticise government spending and the privileges attached to political office.
In another recent post, he questioned why Nigerian political office holders should receive large remuneration while ordinary workers struggle with the rising cost of living.
While Sowore's latest declaration outlines the principles of the government he wants to establish, the statement does not provide detailed figures on how his proposed reforms would be financed or implemented.
A recent assessment of the major 2027 presidential proposals noted that Sowore's education programme, for example, includes extensive commitments ranging from free education and examination fees to improved teacher welfare, digital classrooms and technology-driven learning, but questions remain about the fiscal cost and implementation framework.
Sowore, however, continues to present his candidacy as an alternative to what he considers Nigeria's established political order.
The AAC candidate has previously contested the presidency and is now building his 2027 campaign around what he describes as a revolutionary political programme.
His campaign is currently expanding its grassroots structure, with the SoworeNow platform reporting activities across states and local government areas as the 2027 election approaches.
Sowore's latest message therefore places governance reform, accountability and the redistribution of political attention towards ordinary Nigerians at the centre of his campaign.
If elected, he says his administration would seek to fundamentally change not only who governs Nigeria, but also who government ultimately exists to serve.
