Businessman and political commentator Isaac Fayose has claimed that five governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are secretly supporting the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fayose made the claim in a video shared on social media, saying he attended a meeting where the unnamed governors allegedly outlined conditions for their support.
“Congratulations to the NDC. We now have five APC governors secretly supporting the NDC ahead of the 2027 election. I was in a meeting with them, and they listed their terms and conditions,” he said.
According to reports of his remarks, Fayose alleged that the governors intended to keep their support private because they remain members of the ruling APC. He also claimed that their concerns included the political influence of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike in Rivers State and the FCT.
Fayose further alleged that the governors had discussed financial backing for NDC electoral activities, including support for polling agents in Rivers State and the FCT.
He reportedly claimed that ₦200,000 per polling unit was being offered to agents prepared to resist alleged electoral malpractice. These claims have not been independently verified.
Fayose did not publicly identify the five governors or provide documentary evidence of the alleged meeting and financial arrangement in the reports reviewed.
As of the time of filing, the specific allegations had not been independently confirmed by the governors said to be involved. The claim should therefore be treated as Fayose’s account rather than an established political agreement.
