Woman Returns From Dubai, Raises Alarm Over Alleged Disappearance of Savings From Access Bank Account

A Nigerian woman has reportedly raised the alarm after returning from Dubai and allegedly discovering that a substantial portion of the money she had left in her Access Bank account was no longer there.

According to posts circulating on social media, the woman said she had left her savings in Nigeria before travelling to Dubai to work and earn more money. On her return, however, she reportedly discovered that her account had been almost completely drained.

One circulating account claims she expected to have about ₦3 million in savings but found less than ₦1,000 in the account. Another post alleges that repeated ₦20,000 withdrawals had been made from the account since 2024.

The exact circumstances surrounding the alleged withdrawals remain unclear. Social-media reports have suggested possible unauthorized access to the account, with some posts specifically mentioning SIM reassignment, but this has not been independently established.

The case has sparked concern online, particularly among Nigerians living or working abroad who maintain Nigerian bank accounts while away from the country.

The woman's allegation does not by itself establish that Access Bank was responsible for the disappearance of the funds. Determining what happened would require an examination of the account's transaction history, authentication records, withdrawal channels, linked phone number and SIM history, device/login records and any relevant bank or telecom records.

Access Bank provides services for customers living outside Nigeria, including dedicated diaspora support.

For the affected customer, the immediate questions are likely to be when the withdrawals occurred, how they were authorized, which channel was used, and who ultimately received the funds.

As the story continues to circulate, attention is now likely to turn to whether the woman has formally reported the alleged unauthorized transactions to the bank and whether Access Bank will provide an explanation or investigation outcome.

This report is based on social-media accounts currently circulating and should be treated as an allegation pending confirmation from the woman, Access Bank or relevant authorities.
