Social media commentator and activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has expressed concern over rising insecurity in Nigeria and the safety challenges faced by Africans living abroad, particularly in South Africa.
In a statement shared online, VDM noted that while Nigeria continues to grapple with cases of insecurity and kidnapping in various regions, similar safety concerns also affect Nigerians and other Africans residing overseas.
“Yes, there’s a lot going on in Nigeria regarding insecurity and kidnappings by bandits,” he said. “But this situation in South Africa has also claimed the lives of many Nigerians and other Africans.”
He urged Nigerians, Ghanaians, and other African nationals living in South Africa to remain cautious and prioritize personal safety amid reports of violent incidents targeting foreign residents in some areas.
VDM further emphasized that while economic opportunities abroad remain attractive due to limited prospects at home, individuals should not ignore safety risks.
“The safety and well-being of Africans living abroad should be taken seriously,” he added. “I know there may not be many opportunities back home, but personal safety must always come first.”
His remarks have sparked discussions on social media regarding xenophobic violence in South Africa and the broader issue of insecurity across parts of Africa, with users calling for stronger diplomatic engagement and improved protection for African migrants.
