President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has officially resigned from his position following weeks of mounting pressure and growing controversy surrounding the administration of Nigerian football.
Gusau announced his resignation during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, August 27, bringing his tenure as head of the country's football governing body to an end.
The resignation confirms earlier reports that Gusau and several members of the NFF Executive Committee were preparing to step down amid a deepening leadership crisis.
The NFF administration had faced increasing criticism following a series of setbacks involving Nigeria's national teams. The pressure intensified after the Super Falcons failed to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, following their disappointing qualification campaign.
