The Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win re-election in 2027.
Akpabio argued that the Tinubu administration inherited a difficult economic situation, claiming that 27 states were unable to pay salaries when the government assumed office.
He maintained that the administration has made progress in turning the situation around.
Akpabio also criticised some of the conversations taking place on social media, describing certain online debates as “garbage in, garbage out.”
His prediction has added another layer to the emerging 2027 political contest, as governing-party figures increasingly defend the administration's record while opposition politicians campaign for a change in leadership.
Political observers have cautioned against treating predictions from politicians as evidence of electoral outcomes.
