Abuja State Lodges Raise Questions Over Cost and Value

In Abuja, state lodges and liaison offices continue to attract attention because of their architectural designs, size and strategic locations in the nation's capital.

While some residents and stakeholders regard the facilities as important representations of the states and necessary accommodation for government officials and visitors, others have questioned the amount of public money spent on their construction and maintenance.

Some argue that funds committed to elaborate government facilities in Abuja could instead be channelled into basic infrastructure and social services in the states.

Others, however, maintain that liaison offices and government guest facilities are necessary, particularly because of the calibre of officials and visitors who use them, and therefore should meet appropriate standards.
