President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed full confidence in the integrity of his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding an alleged fake government agency.
Responding to public debate over the matter, the President declared his unwavering support for Gbajabiamila, saying:
"I have absolute confidence in the integrity of our Chief of Staff. All campaign of calumny and insinuations should stop. The buck stops here."
The statement comes as authorities continue investigating allegations connected to the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an entity the Presidency has maintained is not an official agency of the Federal Government.
The controversy has generated widespread public attention following the arrest and prosecution of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who allegedly presented himself as the Director-General of the council. The Presidency has described Adeyemi as an impostor, while criminal proceedings against him are ongoing.
In recent weeks, allegations have also been made against senior public officials, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila. Those allegations have been denied by the Presidency and have not been established by any court.
President Tinubu's latest remarks are seen as a strong vote of confidence in his Chief of Staff as investigations and court proceedings continue.
The case has sparked calls from opposition figures, civil society groups and public affairs commentators for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged agency, including how it reportedly operated and appeared in public records.
No court has found Gbajabiamila liable for any wrongdoing, and the allegations connected to the controversy remain the subject of ongoing investigations and judicial proceedings.
