Social media commentator Shehu Gazali Sadiq has alleged that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, played a role in the latest legal developments involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a post shared on X, Sadiq referred to Wike's recent television appearance, where the minister reportedly addressed calls from some Nigerians for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to be on the ballot in the 2027 general elections.
According to Sadiq, Wike suggested that some Nigerians believe there can be no democracy unless both Atiku and Obi are candidates in the next presidential election.
Sadiq's comments came after a reported ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing congresses allegedly conducted under the leadership of former Senate President David Mark within the ADC.
Reacting to the development, Sadiq wrote, "This is Wike in action," implying that the minister was connected to the court decision.
However, Sadiq did not provide evidence to support the allegation, and there is no public evidence linking Wike to the reported court ruling. Judicial decisions are made independently by the courts, and no official statement has suggested that the minister influenced the proceedings.
As of the time of filing this report, Wike had not responded to Sadiq's claims, while the court ruling and the internal leadership dispute within the ADC remain subject to ongoing legal and political processes.
