Ribadu: Tinubu Inherited Security Challenges From Previous PDP Government Amid Oyo Abduction Concerns

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited deep-rooted security challenges from previous administrations, particularly those led by the Peoples Democratic Party (People's Democratic Party), as concerns mount over recent abduction incidents in Oyo State.

Ribadu made the remark while responding to questions on Nigeria’s evolving security situation, noting that the current administration is dealing with longstanding structural and operational security issues that predate its tenure.

According to him, many of the country’s present security difficulties, including banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency in parts of the country, have accumulated over years and require sustained, coordinated efforts to resolve.

His comments come amid renewed public concern following reports of abductions in parts of Oyo State, which have intensified debates over the effectiveness of ongoing security operations.

Security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, continue to conduct operations aimed at combating kidnapping syndicates and criminal networks operating in forested and rural areas across several states.

Ribadu emphasized that while progress is being made, addressing insecurity requires time, resources, and collaboration across federal, state, and community levels.

The statement has generated mixed reactions, with some Nigerians agreeing that insecurity is a long-standing challenge, while others argue that citizens expect more immediate results from the current administration.

As discussions continue, authorities maintain that ongoing security reforms and intensified operations are aimed at restoring stability and protecting affected communities nationwide.
