A report circulating in the media has alleged that an internal Aso Rock memorandum raises questions about the use of a legal instrument in relation to the allocation of ₦54 billion in oil revenue from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
According to the report, the memo alleges that Femi Gbajabiamila relied on what it described as a "fake law" to facilitate the transfer of the funds. The report further claims that the disputed legal basis was used in connection with the revenue allocation.
The allegations have generated public interest and renewed discussions about transparency, accountability, and the management of public revenue within Nigeria's oil and gas sector.
As of the time of filing this report, the claims contained in the reported memo have not been independently verified, and no court or competent authority has publicly determined that any law was forged or improperly used.
Neither Gbajabiamila nor the Presidency had publicly responded to the specific allegations at the time of this report. Likewise, the NUPRC had not issued an official statement addressing the reported claims.
The matter is expected to attract further scrutiny as stakeholders await clarification from the relevant authorities and any official findings that may emerge.
