A member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has raised alarm over alleged threats to his life following a viral video in which he made critical comments about church leadership and recent events surrounding a planned protest.
In a statement circulating on social media, the individual claimed he began receiving multiple threatening phone calls after speaking publicly about issues he said were related to church decisions and national concerns.
“Please, I want you all to protect and save my life. As I’m speaking to you, my life is in danger because of the truth I have just spoken out,” he said.
He alleged that unknown callers instructed him to delete a viral video within 24 hours or face consequences, prompting him to relocate for safety reasons.
According to his account, the controversy stems from his earlier remarks in which he criticized the leadership of the church and referenced a planned peaceful protest connected to insecurity concerns in parts of Oyo State.
The viral video reportedly included comments referencing the General Overseer of RCCG, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, and discussions around church involvement in national issues. The claims also mentioned Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, in connection with the controversy.
As of the time of filing this report, neither RCCG leadership nor relevant security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, have issued an official statement regarding the allegations of threats or the content of the viral video.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians calling for protection for the individual if his claims are verified, while others urge caution and verification before drawing conclusions.
Security experts emphasize that allegations involving threats should be formally reported to law enforcement agencies for proper investigation and protection where necessary.
The matter continues to trend on social media, reflecting ongoing tensions around religious commentary, activism, and national security discourse in Nigeria.
