Fake Presidency Agency Controversy Deepens as Public Demands Transparency and Thorough Investigation

Public debate over the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has continued to intensify, with commentators and social media users calling for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case.

Speaking during a current affairs programme, analysts said the controversy has raised broader questions about accountability, institutional oversight and public confidence in government processes.

The discussion also referenced comments made by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), who had earlier urged security agencies to ensure the safety of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man at the centre of the controversy.

VDM warned that nothing should happen to Adeyemi while investigations are ongoing, arguing that his safety is essential to uncovering the full facts surrounding the case. He also called for an impartial investigation into all allegations linked to the matter.

During the television discussion, one commentator said public concern has been fuelled by Adeyemi's recent media interviews, including one in which he maintained that the council existed and claimed he had evidence to support his position. According to the commentator, Adeyemi stated that he would reserve much of his evidence for presentation before the court because the matter is now the subject of legal proceedings.

The commentator stressed, however, that Adeyemi's assertions remain allegations that have yet to be tested in court.

Some analysts also cautioned against drawing premature conclusions, noting that while various theories have emerged online regarding how the controversy unfolded, none has been substantiated through official investigations or judicial findings.

The programme highlighted growing calls for investigators to determine how the alleged agency was able to operate, whether there were failures in oversight, and whether any public officials played a role in the events now under investigation.

Participants emphasized that only a comprehensive investigation—supported by documentary evidence, witness testimony and due legal process—can establish what occurred and identify anyone who may be held responsible.

The Presidency has consistently maintained that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council was never a recognised agency of the Federal Government and has described Adeyemi as an impostor. Adeyemi, on the other hand, has denied acting alone and has made allegations against senior public officials, claims that have been rejected by the Presidency and remain unproven.

With the matter scheduled for hearing before the courts, observers say the legal process will be critical in determining the authenticity of the documents, the legality of the alleged agency's operations and whether any criminal or administrative wrongdoing occurred.

Until then, analysts have urged the public to allow the investigation and court proceedings to run their course while avoiding speculation or conclusions not supported by evidence.
