Woman and Her Three Children Stage Protest in Abuja Over Insecurity and School Kidnappings

A woman and her three children staged a peaceful protest in the Maitama area of Abuja, drawing attention to the growing concerns over school kidnappings and insecurity affecting families across the country.

The group, dressed in school uniforms and carrying placards, called for urgent government intervention and the rescue of abducted pupils still in captivity. Their demonstration highlighted the emotional toll insecurity has taken on parents and children, particularly within the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding regions.

Speaking during the protest, the woman expressed fear over sending her children to school, citing repeated cases of abductions targeting students in different parts of the country.

She said the rising insecurity has left many parents anxious and uncertain about the safety of their children in educational institutions.

The peaceful demonstration has since gained attention on social media, with many Nigerians praising the courage of the woman and her children while also calling on authorities to intensify efforts to secure schools and protect vulnerable communities.

Civil society groups have continued to urge the government to strengthen security around schools, especially in high-risk areas, and to improve rapid response mechanisms in kidnapping situations.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had not issued an official statement regarding the protest.
