Troops Repel Terrorist Attack in Borno, Neutralise Fighter and Recover Weapons

Nigerian troops have successfully repelled an attempted attack by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters on a military base in Gajigana, Borno State, forcing the attackers to withdraw under heavy fire.

According to military sources, the assault was met with strong resistance from ground troops, who were supported by coordinated air operations and rapid reinforcement units deployed to the area.

During the exchange, one of the attackers was reportedly neutralised, while weapons and a motorcycle were recovered from the fleeing suspects. Security forces have since launched follow-up pursuit operations aimed at tracking down the remaining attackers.

Military authorities also confirmed that intensified air surveillance and ground patrols have been expanded across several identified flashpoints in the region in a bid to deny terrorist groups freedom of movement and prevent further attacks.

The Nigerian Armed Forces continue to battle insurgent groups in parts of the North-East, where Boko Haram and ISWAP factions remain active despite ongoing counterterrorism operations.

Officials have reiterated their commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements and ensuring the protection of civilians and military installations in affected areas.

Further updates are expected as operations continue in the region.
