Notorious Bandit Kingpin Ibrahim Bastuji Killed in Joint Security Operation in Kogi State

A suspected bandit kingpin identified as Ibrahim Bastuji has reportedly been killed during a coordinated security operation involving the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State.

Security sources say the operation followed a violent attack on a school and residents in Iluke Bunu, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, which sparked a swift joint response from security agencies deployed to the area.

According to preliminary accounts, the joint task force tracked and engaged the armed group believed to be led by Bastuji, resulting in his death during a confrontation. Several other suspected members of the group were said to have fled the scene with injuries.

Residents of the affected community reportedly expressed relief following the development, describing the deceased as a long-feared figure linked to multiple attacks and kidnappings in parts of the state.

Security operatives have since intensified patrols in surrounding communities to prevent possible reprisal attacks and to restore confidence among residents.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not issued an official nationwide statement confirming full operational details, and further updates are expected as investigations continue.
