A new video reportedly released by suspected terrorists has surfaced online, sparking fresh conversations about ongoing security challenges and circulating claims about the group’s alleged demands.
In the footage, a woman identified as Mrs. Alamu is heard addressing reports making rounds on social media that the armed group is demanding the implementation of Sharia law as a condition for negotiations.
She dismissed the claims as false, stating that the group had not made such a demand, contrary to widespread online speculation.
“The reports going round that the terrorists are asking for the implementation of Sharia law is totally false,” she said.
The video has since generated mixed reactions, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the continued spread of unverified information regarding the motives and demands of armed groups operating in different parts of the country.
Security analysts warn that misinformation during conflict situations can heighten public fear, distort understanding of ongoing operations, and complicate response efforts by security agencies.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the video or its authenticity.
