Governor Alex Otti Commends Lagos at Invest Lagos 3.0, Calls for Balanced Regional Development Lagos,

Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has commended the Lagos State Government for creating a platform that allows other states to promote investment opportunities, describing the initiative as an example of inter-state cooperation and economic openness.

Speaking at the Invest Lagos 3.0 forum, Otti expressed appreciation to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for extending invitations to other states to participate in the investment platform, noting that such collaboration reflects leadership and selflessness.

“I want to appreciate Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for inviting us,” Otti said. “It takes a lot of selflessness to invite other states to take advantage of a platform to market themselves.”

The Abia governor added that he would use the opportunity to promote his state without undermining Lagos, stressing the importance of healthy competition among Nigerian states in attracting investment.

Otti described Lagos as a “mega city,” while also noting concerns about population pressure and infrastructure strain. He suggested that other states must develop their own economic capacities to reduce excessive migration and pressure on Lagos.

“We cannot all be mega cities like Lagos, but there are things we can take from Lagos,” he added, emphasizing the need for balanced development across the country.

The remarks have sparked discussions around regional development, urbanization, and the role of state governments in driving economic diversification in Nigeria.

Invest Lagos 3.0 brought together policymakers, investors, and business leaders to explore opportunities for economic growth and inter-state collaboration.
