Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has spoken out during an ongoing protest in Abuja, expressing concern over the growing insecurity across the country and its impact on citizens’ freedom of movement.
Addressing security operatives at the protest ground, the actor said he was being denied his preferred means of transportation due to safety concerns linked to insecurity.
“I love travelling by road, but today I am being denied my preferred means of transportation because of insecurity,” he said.
He urged authorities to take decisive action to address the situation, warning that failure to act could have wider consequences for all Nigerians.
“Don’t allow this insecurity to go too far; tomorrow, it could be your own children,” he added.
The remarks come amid heightened public anxiety over kidnappings, armed attacks, and other security challenges in several parts of the country.
The protest in Abuja has drawn attention from civil society groups and public figures calling for improved safety measures and stronger government response to insecurity.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not issued an official statement regarding the actor’s comments or the ongoing demonstration.
