Civilian JTF Arrests Suspected Arms Suppliers to Bandits in Kaduna State

Members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in Kaduna State have reportedly apprehended several Fulani youths suspected of supplying arms and ammunition to bandit groups operating in parts of the state.

According to local security sources, the suspects were arrested following intelligence gathering and surveillance operations aimed at disrupting criminal networks believed to be supporting bandit activities in affected communities.

The arrests were reportedly made during a coordinated operation by members of the Civilian JTF, who have continued to work alongside conventional security agencies in combating insecurity across various parts of Kaduna State.

Sources familiar with the operation alleged that the suspects were involved in facilitating the movement and supply of weapons to armed groups responsible for attacks, kidnappings, and other criminal activities in the region.

Following their arrest, the suspects were reportedly handed over to relevant security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Community leaders have welcomed the development, describing it as a positive step toward dismantling criminal support networks and improving security within affected areas.

Security analysts note that efforts to combat banditry increasingly focus not only on armed groups themselves but also on the individuals and networks that allegedly provide logistics, intelligence, funding, and weapons to sustain their operations.

The arrests come amid ongoing security operations across Kaduna State and other parts of northwestern Nigeria, where authorities have intensified efforts to curb banditry, kidnapping, and related crimes.

Residents of affected communities have repeatedly called for stronger measures to identify and dismantle criminal networks believed to be enabling attacks on villages, highways, and rural settlements.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had not released the identities of the suspects, while investigations into the allegations were said to be ongoing.

Officials have urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in the fight against insecurity.

The Civilian JTF has played an increasingly prominent role in supporting security operations in several parts of northern Nigeria, assisting authorities with intelligence gathering, surveillance, and community-based security efforts.
