Police Intensify Crackdown After Alleged Cult-Related Incident in Nekede, Imo State

The Imo State Police Command has reportedly stepped up security operations following a cult-related incident that occurred on Sunday in the Nekede area of Imo State.

According to reports, the command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso, has increased surveillance and enforcement measures aimed at restoring calm and preventing a recurrence of similar violence in the area.

Security operatives attached to the anti-cultism unit, popularly known as Tiger Base, are said to be actively involved in the operation. The team is reportedly conducting targeted raids on suspected hideouts, including residential houses, hostels, and other locations believed to be linked to cult activities.

Authorities say the ongoing efforts are part of broader measures to curb cult-related violence and improve public safety within Nekede and surrounding communities, which have experienced occasional security concerns involving youth groups.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist ongoing investigations.

As of the time of reporting, the police command has not released full official details of arrests or confirmed the number of suspects involved in the incident.
