Mahmud Jega: Kwankwaso Has Made a Major Political Concession in Nigerian Politics

Political analyst and columnist Mahmud Jega has described the recent political posture of former Kano State governor and presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as a significant concession within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

Speaking during a political analysis segment on Arise Television, Jega noted that Kwankwaso’s influence in Kano State—a key and highly competitive political battleground—remains substantial, but said recent developments suggest strategic compromises within his political positioning.

He stated that a politician with such strong grassroots support in a politically volatile state like Kano would naturally face heightened political calculations and pressure.

According to him, “Kwankwaso has made a very big concession in Nigerian politics. A politician like him with so much support in a key and volatile state like Kano, must be looking over his shoulders.”

The comments have sparked renewed discussion about shifting alliances, coalition politics, and strategic positioning ahead of future elections in Nigeria.

As of the time of reporting, Kwankwaso has not issued a public response to the remarks.
