Tinubu Praised as Long-Abandoned Makurdi–Otukpo–9th Mile Road Receives Attention

Residents and supporters have commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu following ongoing work on the federal road linking Makurdi, Otukpo and 9th Mile.

According to reactions online, the highway had reportedly been neglected for more than three decades despite its importance as a major route connecting parts of the North Central and South East regions.

Commentators noted that several past administrations, including influential political leaders from the region, were unable to rehabilitate the road over the years. Former Senate President David Mark was specifically mentioned in discussions, with some observers pointing out that the project remained unattended during his years in office.

Supporters of the current administration say the ongoing reconstruction demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and regional connectivity.

The Makurdi–Otukpo–9th Mile corridor is considered a strategic transport route for commerce, agriculture, and interstate travel. Motorists and traders have long complained about its poor state, citing delays, accidents, and rising transport costs.

Many residents have expressed hope that the project will be completed on schedule and deliver lasting economic benefits to communities along the route.
