Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a swipe at opposition critics, declaring that if they refuse to acknowledge the infrastructure delivered by his administration and the positive direction of the economy, the government may have to “loan them sight correcting glasses.”
The remark, attributed to the President and widely circulated on Sunday, was seen as a direct response to persistent criticism from opposition figures over the performance of the current administration.
According to Tinubu, significant investments have been made in infrastructure while key economic indicators are beginning to show signs of improvement. He suggested that detractors are deliberately ignoring visible progress across the country.
“If they don't want to acknowledge the infrastructure we built and are building, or acknowledge the positivity in the economy, we will loan them sight correcting glasses,” the statement read.
The comment has generated mixed reactions online. Supporters praised the President’s confidence and said ongoing projects in roads, energy, and public services demonstrate real progress. Critics, however, argued that many Nigerians are still grappling with inflation, high living costs, and economic hardship.
Political observers note that the exchange reflects rising tensions between the ruling party and opposition groups as national debate over governance and economic reforms intensifies.
The Tinubu administration has repeatedly defended its policies, insisting that current reforms are necessary steps toward long-term economic stability and development.
