A Nigerian man has sparked widespread discussion online after sharing his unfiltered views on relationships, claiming that aside from sex, a woman has nothing to offer him that he doesn’t already possess.
In a now-viral post, he explained: “You are either coming to add and make it better or it cannot work. I have peace, I have genuine connection, I have advisers, I have a good support system, I have emotional support and even financial support, I have people who pray for me, companionship plenty die. I can cook very well maybe more than you, I have a cleaner, I have a laundry man… So if you are coming to my house, and sex is not involved, you are coming to dirty my house. Don’t come abeg.”
The statement has divided social media users. Some praised his self-sufficiency, independence, and clarity about expectations in relationships, arguing that knowing what one wants is essential. Others criticized the post as materialistic and dismissive of emotional and relational contributions that partners bring beyond sex.
Relationship experts who weighed in on the discussion noted that while independence is important, healthy relationships thrive on mutual respect, collaboration, and shared growth, not just transactional exchanges.
The post has since fueled online debates about modern dating, gender expectations, and the role of personal fulfillment in romantic partnerships.
