A man has gone viral online after sharing his disbelief over a power bank advertised as 120,000mAh that reportedly failed to hold charge properly while charging his phone.
According to the story circulating on social media, the buyer became suspicious after noticing that the device drained quickly and did not perform like a high-capacity power bank. Curious to know the cause, he allegedly opened the gadget for inspection.
To his surprise, the power bank was said to contain only one functioning battery cell, while the remaining internal space had been stuffed with a substance resembling fufu instead of genuine electronic components.
Photos and videos allegedly showing the opened device have since sparked widespread reactions, with many users expressing shock, amusement, and concern over counterfeit electronics in the market.
Consumer advocates say fake or misleadingly labeled power banks are a growing problem, warning that such products may not only underperform but could also pose safety risks such as overheating or fire hazards.
Experts advise buyers to purchase electronics from trusted retailers, verify brand authenticity, and be cautious of unusually cheap products with exaggerated battery capacity claims.
The incident has renewed calls for stricter regulation and enforcement against counterfeit gadgets being sold to unsuspecting consumers.
