A group identifying as Nigerian diaspora investors has accused the Minister of Works, David Umahi, of allegedly frustrating their investments and causing prolonged hardship over stalled infrastructure-related engagements.
In a statement circulating online, the group claimed they returned to Nigeria with “hope, investment, and belief,” but said their expectations were “destroyed” through what they described as two years of pain and injustice.
“We are Nigerians in diaspora. We came home with hope, investment, and belief, and David Umahi destroyed it. Two years of pain, two years of injustice, global protest coming up. We demand justice. We demand compensation,” the statement read.
The investors alleged that unresolved issues tied to their projects have led to significant financial losses and emotional distress, warning that they may escalate the matter through coordinated international protests if their concerns are not addressed.
The claims have sparked debate online, with some users calling for a thorough investigation into investor-government engagements, while others urged restraint and encouraged dialogue to resolve disputes without escalating tensions.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ministry of Works had not issued an official response to the allegations.
Observers note that Nigeria’s infrastructure sector continues to attract both local and diaspora investors, but concerns around contract execution, regulatory delays, and policy consistency remain recurring challenges.
