Daddy Freeze Questions Cost of Pastors’ Private Jets, Calls for Greater Investment in Social Welfare
Nigerian media personality and religious critic Daddy Freeze has sparked fresh debate after questioning the financial priorities of some church leaders, particularly regarding the acquisition and maintenance of private jets.
In a statement shared on social media, Daddy Freeze alleged that a church General Overseer’s private jet costs about $60 million, with an additional $10 million reportedly spent annually on maintenance. He questioned whether similar amounts are invested yearly in humanitarian efforts such as outreach programs and healthcare support.
“Your daddy GO’s private jet cost 60 million dollars and extra 10 million dollars to maintain it yearly, do they spend such money on outreach and healthcare yearly?” he asked.
The comment quickly gained traction online, reigniting longstanding discussions about wealth, transparency, and accountability within religious institutions in Nigeria.
Supporters of Daddy Freeze’s position argued that religious organizations should prioritize social development projects, poverty alleviation, and healthcare initiatives, especially given Nigeria’s economic challenges. Others, however, defended church leaders, stating that private jets are often funded through voluntary donations and are used for evangelism and international ministry activities.
Religious analysts note that debates over church finances and prosperity teachings have persisted for years, reflecting broader conversations about faith, wealth, and social responsibility in Nigerian society.
As reactions continue across social media platforms, the discussion highlights the growing scrutiny of religious institutions and the expectations many Nigerians now place on faith-based organizations to contribute more visibly to public welfare.
