Concerns have emerged following reports that the Benue State Government deployed about 30 buses to evacuate Benue indigenes studying at the University of Jos, Plateau State, amid rising security fears in the area.
According to information shared online and circulated through private messages, security personnel stationed at the university gate allegedly stopped students from boarding the buses, insisting that no student would be allowed to leave the campus at the time.
The development has sparked anxiety among students and their families, with calls growing for immediate intervention by authorities to ensure the safety of those affected.
Individuals who shared the report appealed to Nigerians to urge the Plateau State Police Command and the Plateau State Government to step in and facilitate a peaceful evacuation process, allowing students willing to leave to do so without obstruction or delay.
As of the time of filing this report, officials of the University of Jos and relevant security agencies have yet to issue an official statement addressing the situation.
